How do you choose the best air purifier by room size? Our laboratory testing benchmarks the 2/3 CADR Rule, air changes per hour (ACH), ceiling height volume adjustments, and tested models for 100 to 1,000+ square foot spaces.

An air purifier marketed as “safe” can still pump ozone into a nursery while your baby sleeps. The only purifiers genuinely safe for children and pets carry CARB certification confirming ozone output below 0.050 parts per million and use mechanical filtration with zero ionization by default. Your roommate’s pan-seared salmon from three hours ago is still hanging in the air. The apartment downstairs just lit a fireplace. And your bedroom sits directly above a busy street with buses idling at the stoplight. This is shared apartment air quality: a cocktail of cooking fumes, neighbor exhaust, traffic PM2.5, and whatever the building’s

A draft from your air purifier is not a sign the unit is working hard. It is a sign the unit is positioned wrong for your room, set to the wrong fan speed for the season, or sized without accounting for where you actually sit and sleep. Cold moving air makes people turn off their

Most people buy an air purifier to solve a specific problem: allergies, wildfire smoke, pet dander, or general

Air Purifier: Why Is My Purifier Not Lowering US AQI Enough? Your air purifier has been running for hours on turbo, the filter indicator still shows blue, and yet your indoor PM2.5 monitor reads 85 micrograms per cubic meter while the outdoor AQI sits at 150. That is not a defective purifier. It is a

Most air purifiers are marketed by square footage claims that assume you are running the unit on its highest setting in a sealed room with eight-foot ceilings and no furniture blocking airflow. Your actual medium room has furniture, open doorways, and real-world particle sources that demand more cleaning power than the box suggests. A medium
